Eve reflects on the fires raging all over Israel a few days before Kislev, the month celebrating our Hanukkah, our Festival of Lights. An element of nature- and of ourselves- can be used to create or destroy. We choose how we want to use it, and how it affects others. Should there be ‘safe spaces’? And are there specific holy spaces or should we be open to feeling Hashem’s presence anywhere and anytime? With all our advances, we still need Him.
As usual, even the mundane events in Israel gives us that message, as clear as the cloudless skies above.
